2:18 pm - Groan *Rabble Rabble*
So, I've been in a major funk lately, I feel a little better.

I'm in a lj community where people post pictures of their outfits then everyone else comments on it. Now, I'm a member because I like to see what people with style like to wear, but I'm always aware that style is an individual thing and what is awesome to one is not to the other. Of course the group is overrun with emo/scene kids so it's mostly biased against anyone who doesn't dress that way. With all that in mind, I would never post a picture of myself wearing the stuff I wear on there, I'd be torn to shreds. What I don't get is why other people would want to be criticized like that. I just don't get it.

On a more serious note, a 1L died today after being hit by a car while she was on a morning run. The car had a green light and she was in the crosswalk, so the driver isn't being charged, but I'm left wondering, why didn't he see her, why didn't he slow down, was he going so fast he couldn't slow down in time? The incident is incredibly sad (I wasn't too fond of the girl, hate to say it -, but I feel really bad for her family) and I am really fucking sick of how people drive in Gainesville. This is like the 5th accident like this just this year. My roommate and I were almost hit by a car yesterday, some asshole in a BMW just blind turned into our street speeding. I was crossing the street to get the mail, if I had left my house a few seconds earlier I totally would have been hit. That sort of thing sickens me. Stop driving like roads are just for cars, be more attentive, don't drive drunk. BE A HUMAN and be more concerned with the consequences of your careless actions.

Now that I've confronted negative self image and my human mortality (I may expand on this later), nail polish.

"For Audrey" surprised me. I think China Glaze might actually be a better quality polish than OPI. It didn't chip at all and I didn't do multiple gloss coats like I usually do with OPI. The color is a little loud, but it cool.

I'm now wearing "Midnight in Moscow" by OPI. I'm a little annoyed because it chipped and I just put it on on Sunday.

And Movies -

30 Days of Night - Really disappointing, my boy Josh being in it didn't salvage it at all.

American Gangster - Too long, boring, didn't care about the characters.

Elizabeth 2 - disappointing, not as good as the first one, pretty historically inaccurate.

I cannot possibly express how excited I am for Will Smith's I Am Legend. :O

EDIT: Ah according to the news the girl crossing the street was totally at fault.

2:19 pm - Law School: Sewer of Dreams
Gee WSJ how can your articles be true, when this lawyer can make bling just appear in his hand and owns TWO Bentley's?

I'm never going to find a job.

Law school is/was/will always be a horrible mistake.

For Audrey, by China Glaze, looks bad on my skin.

I started reading the Life of Elizabeth I and The Dedalus Collection of 19th Century French Horror.

I'm in such a funk, and I have so much to do this weekend. I just feel like I can't get it all done. Then I feel guilty about it.

I really just want to work for a living. ugh.

9:57 am - The Mad Queen Juana
Juana was the sister of Katerine of Aragon (Henry VIII first wife), daughter of Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain, and Mother to the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. Alison Weir always makes her out to be a complete psycho, but apparently there is a load of scholarship claiming that her insanity was not actual. Instead, she was made out to seem crazy by all the dominant men in her life. First, her father, who was greatly unsympathetic to all his children and their troubles, especially after Queen Isabella died and the jointly ruled united kingdom of Spain went back to being Castille and Aragon separately. He wanted to rule Castille but Juana was the rightful heir. Next, her husband Philip the Handsome of Austria, son of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I, cheated on her and treated her horribly . Of course she was madly in love, constantly flying into jealous rages, and apparently continued to caress his body in after his death. He also wanted to rule Castille, and with his father in law did so without Juana's consent. And finally her son, left her locked up in a tower for the remainder of her life. Her grandmother was the Mad Queen Isabella of Portugal. There is some speculation that the "madness" and melancholia usually experienced by Portuguese princesses and by monarchs of the Habsburg empire may have been caused by inbreeding.

Here's a really cool site that discusses all these crazies.

9:12 am - More 16th Century Nonsense - Edwrard De Vere
I was poking around on Amazon last night, procrastinating, and I came across a mess of books concerning the theory that William Shakespeare was a pen name for Edward De Vere, the 17th Earl of Oxford. That's probably not news to anyone, there's all sorts of conspiracy theories that Shakespeare was actually someone else or a group of writers ad infinitum. The clincher is that some people (I dunno about calling them scholars) think that not only was Edward De Vere actually Shakespeare but that he was also the illegitimate child of Elizabeth I. As the story goes, she got pregnant at 13 by Lord High Admiral, Thomas Seymour (brother to Queen Jane Seymour, mother to King Edward VI) while he was married to the Dowager Queen Katherine Parr, the last wife of Henry VIII. History records that Elizabeth was sent away after the Queen found her and the Admiral in a deep embrace, but as the alternative story goes she was sent away because she was pregnant. Alison Weir does mention in her book that Elizabeth was sent away and that there is speculation that she may have been pregnant but there is no historical evidence to support this. Then there some other ridiculous stories about how Elizabeth I went on to get pregnant by Edward De Vere. I dunno, I love cover ups, but I don't know if I buy this stuff. It would have been a really huge secret to conceal with so many people having to be privy to it. I'm curious to read it though.

Here's the book.

10:57 pm
I started a blog. I want to discuss stuff, like nail polish, the books I read, and other things I find interesting, but I don't have the time to sit and research and write good articles so I think I'll use my journal as an idea/rough draft guide so someday when I have my soul and life back from Levin high I can reference the journal and say I think I'll be dumb and blog about this now. So without further ado here's some stuff I've been thinking about lately:

Celebutants -

they must be stopped, especially the unspeakable evil that is Kim Kardashian.

Nail Polish -

Right now I'm obsessed with Rehab by Lippmann Collection. (Check out All Lacquered Up for the details)  But I find that the 4 coats necessary to get the really pretty navy color is about how many coats it takes for the polish to not dry properly. And of course, this leads to the nail polish spiral of doom where you add another coat to fix the the first application in perpetuity. The problem with rehab and the NPSoD is that because the color is gelly and translucent adding another coat makes it so dark that it just looks like black (possibly my biggest nail polish annoyance - lacquers that are supposed to a certain color and indeed are so in the bottle but look black on the nail, looking at you OPI Lincoln Park After Dark). I've also picked up some colors for OPI's Russian Collection and China Glaze's tribute to Audrey Hepburn color and I'll discuss those soon.

Books -

Right now I'm reading "The Children of Henry VIII" (much to the chagrin of everyone around me). When I read Alison Weir I just cannot stfu about whatever it is that I'm reading. The poor people I live and interact have to deal with me gossiping about people in the 16th century like I actually know them. This book is the follow up to "The Six Wives of Henry the VIII" which was also excellent. It just so happens that I pick up these books whenever something is going on in the media about the Tudors. My reading of Six Wives coincided with Showtime's The Tudors airing. The series' first season centers around the conflict between Katherine of Aragon and Henry VIII. Katherine had been Henry's brothers wife but their marriage was never consummated. Still this would have put her within the forbidden degrees of affinity as well as a biblical ban of marrying your brother's wife. Henry married her after a papal bull dispensing those requirements, but she had yet to produce an heir which Henry claimed as proof that the marriage was forbidden by canon law. Of course, by that time he was possibly already in love with the Anne Boleyn, that and his need for a male heir probably had more to do with his desire for annulment than any pains his conscience may have felt. I really hope the show carries throughout the entire history of the Tudor clan because there definitely is enough soap opera-y intrigue to keep crowds interested. Until then I'll have to satisfy myself with Alison Weir. I really want to see the new Elizabeth movie, but I'm reluctant to see it before I read "The Life of Elizabeth I" which may be never at this rate. And now for the irony - I look down on the media for giving so much attention to these talentless famous for nothing hacks like Kim Kardashian, those vapids from the Hills, and Paris Hilton and co, but really reading about the private lives of today's wealthy is the same as reading about the private lives of yesteryear's wealthy. I suppose it can be argued that there's more value to reading about the lives of the Kings and Queens that helped shape the world we live in today, these people's lives were important in the grand scheme of things unlike the scum that plasters our media outlets today, but really they were only important because they were born in a position to be as such. Essentially they were famous because of their birth, like Hilton and co, so should I love them as much as I do, should I spend more time loving people that changed the world through their own efforts and merits and not through their high birth? Is it stupid to compare reality TV to the Tudor Court?

"We learn that from the Sun Belt to Erie, Pa., the lack of taste knows no ethnic, religious or cultural bounds... The series is like an infomercial for class war, and should the revolution come, an episode guide will provide a handy, illustrated list of who should go up against the wall." - on Super Sweet Sixteen, Ana Marie Cox

2:09 pm - Gone with the Wind
(I MADE MY JOURNAL PRIVATE AFTER THIS ENTRY. COMMENT OR ADD ME OR WHATEVER.)

Whenever I think about Gone with the Wind... I can't help but think that I'm doomed to be like Scarlett O'Hara.

My cat is pregnant, but the vet is making me get a kitty abortion/spaying.
I haven't been letting her out of the house because Ive had to take her to the vet so she hates me now and claws me constantly.

I have so much homework this weekend that I want to gouge my eyes out.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm friends with the people I'm friends with.
I can't talk to most of them because I don't/can't trust them.
Some of them tend to be malicious bitches who think I'm too stupid to realize what it is that they are doing. But in reality, I am also a malicious

Max describes how I dress as frumpy. I agree. I'm going to go buy clothing that is not frumpy and I'm going to start wearing make-up again.

I think I finally decided that I'm going to do the nose surgery. (Shut up, I know I don't need it, but I want it.)

11:59 pm - T_T
I feel so betrayed...

You know... I've been suspicious for a while that my cat has another owner. She'll just disappear for days and show up unscathed. She came home last night and I let her out this morning... when she came home tonight... she had a collar on. T_T She's cheating on me.

10:18 am - Aiiiiiieeee!!!!
I only have 324MBs left on my computer. It's a sad sad day because I had to turn off all my downloads. It seems like no matter how much anime I watch and delete I just never have any space. I'm starting to wonder if maybe something is wrong with my computer. I need to find a way to dump 140 gigs of anime and quick. bah.

I watched the first disk of magical shopping arcade abenobashi and it's freaking weird just like FLCL... but then again what else do we expect from gainax.

I also watched voices of a distant star. I can't believe it was so highly recommended... it was pretty boring, and plotless. Sure it was a cool premise but it doesn't go anywhere so whats the point of watching. I like the little cat short much more. It was freaking cute.

Speaking of cats, mine is missing. hmm...

I'm in for another night of hardcore studying... -.-'

current mood: working

2:41 pm - Ur not a badass, Listen when someone tells u something is hard
So... I haven't updated in forever but I decided to start doing it again. This week I have a test in that class that who's last test whooped my ass. My first D ever... it was a sad sad day. I'm going to study hard core for the next test but somehow i don't think it will make much of a difference. I need a A on the next test. I can't let this stupid 1000 level course ruin my GPA. I'm really wishing I had listened to my roommate when she told me that this class was impossible.

I'm watching Rose of Versailles. It's really good and fairly historically accurate. I wish it had more romance in it but so far I really like it. I have about 20 more episodes to go to finish the series. Hmm... what else...

I'm totally and completely obsessed with "Desperate Housewives"... its so sad cause Im so used to watching anime where I can just keep watching episode after episode without commercials... that watching a regular TV show is stressing me out... MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AHHHHH!!!

anywho... i guess that's it for now. I'm in for a long night of studying and crap tonight... I hate to say this but... it's almost a good thing that A4 is down, cause there is only so much anime I can watch before I feel guilty about not doing my homework. Plus I have to go see this Japanese movie "Mishima" or something for Japanese Culture Class. ::sigh::

I need a break from school.

6:05 pm - hmm...
Ju-on was very scary. Except since I don't understand japanese... I have no clue what the plot was. I forced Max to take me to the UF's butterfly rainforest and I had a fieldday taking pictures. Very nice. I'm mostly just preparing for Jeanne. I really hope they cancel school, I have this huge ass paper due on Adam Smith VS. Karl Marx. As fas as anime... I've been watching DNAngel... it's ok nothing special.

8:26 am - YeaY! Steph is back on LJ
I Don't really have any spare time which is why I haven't been updating LJ. I'm really behind in school... and it's really sad. I think I'm getting sick... maybe strep throat. But on a happier note tomorrow is my 20th Birthday. Yeay! I bought myself a 350 dollar camera, yes... I give myself gifts. :D

Ok I'll catch up on the friends page soon.

1:17 pm
Max broke up with me. I'm getting pretty sick of these major life changes. I was looking forward to starting a new life with him... now that Im going to a different school and live in a different apartment. I know we've been drifting apart but I thought we could fix things now that stuff would be a little different, I guess not. I don't have a job either. I'm very stressed out. I know its probably for the best, I'm just getting sick of making big adjustments. My new room mate is never home and it gets pretty lonely, even with the kitty. UF is so scary. I'm pretty disappointed in everything thats happened.

4:43 am - ahhh life
ok so... i decided to get out of the house today. We decided to go roller skating. So, of course... I lock my keys in my trunk. Everyone had a gay old time making fun of me... it was all good fun : )... now I'm 25 bucks in the hole. So we ended up at a coffee shop playing "Sorry". I won all the games... but I let them think that they won... u know I didn't want to make them feel bad ; ). I watched a bunch of anime today. I finished King of Bandit Jing... uber angsty end... very very good. I saw Kaleido Star... not to impressed but I'll keep watching anyway. I enjoyed I, Robot. I really liked Sonny. I just wanted to like hug it and stuff. I cried and what not. ::sniffle:: Dang it... why do they make robots so freaking cute. :\ Will Smith was nice to... this movie was complete with un-needed shower scenes and muscle shots... ala Troy. It's becoming a trend to sexualize men... A+ Hollywood... come on male actors... lets see you work them thighs. Oh how sweet it is when tables turn. There was a bunch of stuff I wanted to talk about but it's late and I am tired so I go.

and to Maria and Nina:

I plan to retry skating one more time... if it doesn't work that time I say we get drunk and play Risk. I'll own all your asses... that's right I said it. XD
PH34R COMPETITIVE STEPH!!!!

oh and Nina... I read ur little comment in ur LJ about you being the "sorry" master... more like "sorry" ass cheater... BRING IT! : )

Actually now I have the overwhelming urge to buy Scattegories... hmmm...

2:39 pm - I'm worthless

I can't believe I didn't do any homework last night... now I'm even more behind. I'm completely worthless. -.-

I'm going to buckle down tonight for sure. : )

I need a job. : (

The cat keeps constantly attacking me. :\

Scrapped Princess is an awesome anime. I'm soooo addicted. It's pretty much the reason why I didn't do my homework yesterday. I hope this series continues to execute the plot as well as it has so far. It's awesome.

I also finally saw the last movie for Kimagure Orange Road. It wasn't as good as the first movie and the animation was difficult to get used to, but it did provide closure to the series. Although I didn't particularly enjoy the entire series because it had no plot... the last two episodes and the movie made it all worth it. I'm glad I watched it.

INUYASHA MOVIE 3 IS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm mid download right now. ::so excited::

Does anyone have any really cool semi-goth pictures of women...ala my bettie icon? If you do I'd like to see em...

The Cat:
The cat ran away today into the jungle pit on the other side of the fence. I had so much homework I decided to just let it run for a bit and go catch it later. Then it started to pour... :\ i thought for sure it would have ran back home but it didn't. It was out in the rain for like 30 minutes... finally when the rain stopped she came back. She's not the brightest cat.

The Anime:
I finally finished Kimagure Orange Road. The last two episodes and the movie were awesome. It really redeemed the series for me. I couldn't believe the movie though... to get instantaneously so serious when the whole series was so silly. It was refreshing. The second movie's file doesn't work so I ordered it from Greencine. As far as anime goes i feel accomplished. I've let other stuff get in the way of my anime viewing... and for some reason I just had this urge to watch anime this weekend. I'm back on the anime ball so to speak so I'm happy. I'm about half way through Midori No Hibi. It’s got to be one of the funniest animes I've seen in a long time. I don't think I've laughed that hard at an anime ever. As far as GreenCine goes I'm waiting on... Kino's Journey Volume 4, Twelve Kingdoms Volume 6... Then I'm waiting on the rest of Yu Yu Hakusho around volume 22, and the rest of Ruroni Kenshin around volume 6, King of Bandit Jing Volume 4, and the rest of season 7 of Ranma... I'm like on disk 4 or something. Since I'm almost does with some of those I've started to line up the new stuff that I plan to watch. Kiddy Grade, Kaleido star, Magic User's Club, are some of the ones I put in there. : ) I feel like my life has meaning again.

Strange Dreams:
I've been having all these weird dreams that Max is cheating on me. Last night I woke up from one of these dreams where I had reacted to the girl he was cheating on me with in a particularly violent manner involving a baseball bat. It was like 4 in the morning... so I called him... and he was like "What the fuck are you talking about I'm sleeping..." LOL. I apologized and said I figured he would have been out since it was a Saturday and all... but I guess not.

Home:
I actually miss Miami, Max, and my family... I want to go home for a little bit. It sucks cause in October my parents are moving to Broward. But that might be nice, because they are moving to a much bigger house in like a little community and they have a huge ass pool. So… sun + books + pool + little brother = : ) the only thing that sucks is that it so far away from Miami I won’t get to see any friends unless I make the drive… and I also don’t know about anything up there so it’s not like I can go anywhere. Miami is the greatest city in the world. : ( I’ll miss her. The one plus is that the huge as anime store is in Broward.

And Finally Canadians (aww hell let's trash the French while we're at it):
I would like to apologize before hand to anyone who is Canadian (If your French… sorry, you get no apologies) on my friend's list and I just don't know about it..... but Fuck a bitch named Canada and France. There's a thread on the forum talking about how some extremely large number of Canadian teens view the US as evil. Fuck that. I say we put a fence around Canada. What are they going to do about it? They don't even have an army. Assholes. You know what fuck France to... notice how all these bitch ass wussie countries get all high and mighty until we have to bail them out... We're learning about the French Colonialists in Vietnam in history class... How the fuck are you going to let ur bitch ass country get run over in less than 3 weeks by Germans... only to have the US bail ur fuck ass out... then not even a year after the resolution of the conflict (which came no thanks to ur worthless country) you go back to building ur weak bitch ass empire. How the fuck can u have an Empire... if you can't even protect the mother land. Assholes. and now... not even 40 years later they are shit talking us about Iraq... not that I'm for Iraq because I'm not... I just think that once ur country has been ass raped by every other country EVER that you don’t get to have an opinion about anything. So in other words... Shut the fuck up France and Canada.

2:20 pm - >.
I quit smoking, I hate everyone.

UF used to have a page... where you just go and look at all their job openings. It was replaced by an evil search engine that won't actually search. It freaking asks you what kind of currency you want to paid in. How about the god damn U.S. Dollar. : | Why take something so simple like a freaking listing... and make it complicated. I'll never find another job at this rate. I've also been doing homework for like 3 days straight... with no end in sight. And the forum is down... :\ maybe this wasn't the right week to quit. Or maybe things just suck a lot more because I did quit.

OH AND TO MAKE THINGS EVEN BETTER.... I fell today. Yes, that's right... I fell. I'm walking out of class and I start to walk on some mulch. There must have been a soft spot in the ground... cause my foot just went right through the soil... knee deep. So the rest of me just topples over.Boom... flat on my face. My jeans were all dirty... and it hurt, a lot. SO I walked home in shame, cigaretteless, and dirty. ::sniff::

I did call Max on my walk home... he made me feel better... by laughing at me. : ) Boyfriends are useful at times like these.
